A point of reflection, a point of correction

I am fed up with my lack of progress regarding my habits.

This I getting embarrassing, I feel like I have lost my compass into living a habitual life based on my selection of activities, that are scheduled and well-planned beforehand.

Anytime I find myself getting lost in this maze of doing more things that probably seem important on the surface but completely jeopardise my ability to focus on work on the goals and projects that needs serious attention.

based on all the problems mentioned, I am going to seriously commit to this notion of living an intentional life, a life that is meaningful in every sense of the world, so to do that I have decided to:

1) Including Cold Turkey’s software “writer” in my routine as a new tool

the purpose of this tool is to make me write more since my blog seems like we have been in divorce for a while. This blog article has been written using this Cold turkey Writer, and I can tell you I can already feel like I am more committed to writing than ever, it’s such a refreshing experience. but of course, I would like to see the long-term effects!

2) Designing a morning routine that is inducing of completing 60% of the most important and time-consuming habits

These days my best attempt is doing half of the habits, yes I got that 20 habits might seem a lot to handle, but I am sure that it never was about the needed energy that stopped me from doing them. Sure one habit (learning project) might need a lot of effort but other than that, other habits are doable, I need to implement effective solutions, such as designing my morning in such a way that allows me to hit 60% of my habits in the morning, because it seems I didn’t master controlling the other times which are more likely to have more distractions. as for the morning no one can distract me but myself, so one needs to fix two points:

  • putting the right order of habits.
  • getting rid of any distractions to execute my habits as they are intended to be executed.

3) Single tasks need to be blocked on one window

Thankfully we have another tool from Cold Turkey called Micromanager that gives you the ability to use one software at a time. if I had to do research, then it has to be that, if I had to make a PowerPoint presentation then it should be that. if I have to be on my commonplace book, then the only thing I can engage in consciously is that.

4) Having a clear reading map of what needs to be read for the next couple of months

I constantly find myself excited to read multitudes of books, I think one needs to answer some of these questions to find whether this book is worth my attention right away:

  • am I reading this book for myself or a reading club?
  • Is this book relevant to my personal or professional development?
  • describe the reason for reading the book in a single word, for example, if by reading a book you might increase your income, the word you are looking for is Wealth.
  • Is the timing of reading the book right or it could be postponed to some other time and give another book more urgency?

5) Setting clear boundaries for myself and the people around me

There is no need to put myself in a situation where I make myself uncomfortable or others with me, if you can’t do something I think honesty is the best policy. it shouldn’t be hard to express to yourself that it’s impossible to do something because you are being occupied, note that such instances should be communicated politely with others.

6) Using my newly designed planner

Yes, it took me some days to finish making it, but what is the point of having a planner if one doesn’t know or even use it consistently and systematically?

7) Fixing the lack of progress when it comes to Meditation and Yoga

By designing learning projects for both of them, that way I can make better progress, rather than doing both of the habits but focusing solely focusing on the monthly habits which gives me a fuzzy picture of the long-term goals and objectives that I want to achieve in Meditation and Yoga.

more on those Meditation & Yoga learning projects which would be posted soon.

8) Implementing the methodology of “A road map of learning projects”

This could be the best solution for combatting any interruptions that can happen when you tackle a learning project, for example, I had to take a break for months when it comes to my Upgraded learning project, so it wasn’t a good idea, since it ruined my progress so that I go back to it and finish what I started I have now to put this learning along sides other projects in some order and timeline so that I won’t be able to stop doing what I am working on the present time, because it might affect all the consecutive learning projects, which is not something I can deal with.
