8 weeks is all you’ve got before the end of the year.
You could choose to cry over the last 44 weeks,
You can pretend that the next 8 weeks don’t exist,
And maybe it’s a good idea to just move all of your goals to next year because starting the new year fresh is a good thing, right?
Wrong. This mindset can make you waste so much of your precious time.
8 weeks is a significant amount of time for you.
The next 8 weeks, if used right, can create a positive change in your life.
Let me show you how to make the most out of it.
It all starts with a goal
if you had a goal, then it’s safe to assume you have plans as well.
If some of your goals never made it to see the light of success, that’s alright.
Sometimes, life or urgent matters storm us like a destructive tornado, which scatters our plans all around.
Let me assume that you have so many goals you want to work on.
Now, because you have a short amount of time, you can’t tackle them all.
A good option to consider is to put your goals into a list in a hierarchy of goals.
To simplify things, we can refer to such hierarchical goals as Pyramid Goals.
Check the figure below
Assuming you have 5 goals to work on, you need to arrange them from 1 to 5.
But, how would you do that?
By asking one or more of these questions:
Which goal you are longing to achieve?
Is it to drop some weight?
Learn a language?
Finish your reading list?
Changing your job?
Which goal is connected to my life purpose, if I have any?
Usually Life purpose-related goals takes precedence, they can be top priority if you don’t have something that affects you directly.
Which goal if I don’t achieve I might get negative outcomes?
If you get a life purpose, then you should place this one right below your life purpose, if not then you can place it first, also you should consider place it first if it can affect your current quality of life or makes you unable to fulfill important duties toward yourself and your family for example.
Envisioning negative outcomes helps us to avoid what we don’t like to happen.
Once you get your goal in the order that seems justifiable to you based on both importance (life purpose related goals) and urgency ( something that cannot be delayed)
Then it’s time to decide how many hours you need to work on each task.
Start working on Goal one
Till you get it done.
Move to the next.
This is method one.
Method two of handling your goals
If you feel like you can juggle two goals or even three, then give yourself a week of trial.
And since you have figured out the ranking of your tasks, it’s advisable to start your daily tasks according to the pyramid of goals.
If you can tackle them all, great.
If not, lower your expectations and focus on two if possible; the point is that you make progress.
Keep crushing these goals, so that by the end of the year, you make it a memorable one.
For me personally, I have many goals, but I have identified three important ones:
My 3 goals for the next 8 weeks
Because I have so many goals, I had to pick the top 3, and give them my energy and time.
1-Starting the upcoming year with 23 daily habits.
By the first month of the year I thought I can start the new year with 20 habits and end it by having 30 habits.
That didn’t happen, some internal and external things gets in the way, and for some personal shortcoming, things can easily slip from out fingers. What can we do about them? Learn from mistakes without feeling terrible about the situation.
by the time of writing this post I only achieved 10% success rate.
so I am aiming to add another 20%, so that I end up with 23 habits by the start of the year 2025
2-Launching my newsletter
For the longest times I wanted to launch my newsletter, part of me wasn’t ready, the other part was still having some questions that I didn’t have answer yet.
Well now that I figured what I need, just one welcome gift that for new subscribers.
Once it’s ready. I will launch the newsletter, nothing else matter delaying anymore.
I will find time to write and I will do my best to deliver what I can regarding the 3 cores of plannedroutine (habits, productivity and learning)
the format and the content of the newsletter will be mentioned in another post.
3-Finish reading 20-30 books
Soon I will publish my 20-30 list of books I need to read before the end of the year.
So far, I have read 8 books.
it might seem quite hard to achieve 20 given the fact I have 8 weeks left, that’s 2.5 books a week.
But it’s possible because some books are part of the Yoga explorer learning project and the upgraded memory learning project. So I get more hours of reading. That increases the odds to achieve the 20 books goal ( at least).
That’s a wrap-up for this post.
the point of writing this post is to show you that it’s never too late to work on your goals and even in a mere 8 weeks, you can achieve some worthwhile goals.
keep your heads up and get to do the amazing work that is waiting for you.
until I see you in another post.
PS: feel free to share your goals below in the post.
