I had my first version of these 365-day challenges last year, in 2024.
I used that challenge to tackle two weak habits of mine:
1 → Meditation
2 → Yoga
The third challenge was about using the Pomodoro technique to complete five Pomodoro sessions per day.
You can check the results in the blogpost: the results of 3 x 365 challenges of 2024.
For now, let’s talk about the new challenges for the year 2025.
Instead of purely focusing on fixing habits, I thought, why not use it to address each pillar of the three pillars of Planned Routine?
What I mean is that:
- One challenge in learning projects
- One challenge in habit building
- The third challenge in productivity
Let’s see what I have picked for each category:
Learning Project = Reading 100 book summaries.
This sounds like a big challenge, right?
Not really. Reading 100 book summaries is like reading 10 full books.
But here’s the thing—it would take between half an hour to 1.5 hours to read and take notes of each book summary.
Here are the 10 categories these book summaries will cover:
1 → Productivity
2 → Habit building and behavioral science
3 → Philosophy
4 → Writing and storytelling
5 → Marketing and sales
6 → Science and technology
7 → History
8 → Communication
9 → Biography
10 → Nutrition
My daily checking off criteria is to spend at least 10 minutes a day reading or listening to these summaries while taking notes.
My 365-day winning criteria:
1 → doing it 90% of the 365 days—meaning 329 days—
2 →and finishing all 100 summaries.
Soon, I will post the learning project of these 100 summaries so that you know the titles of the book summaries I am going to tackle for this year.
The Habit = The WHM Push-ups Without Breathing Exercise
The reason it’s called the Wim Hof Method is that it’s named after a Dutch extreme athlete who is considered one of the biggest advocates of cold showers. His ability to withstand extreme cold earned him the title The Iceman and multiple world records. By combining breathing exercises, cold exposure, and yoga workouts, he created a method known by his name.
A few years ago, I completed his nine-week online course. Since I really missed this program and wanted to do it again—but unfortunately don’t have much time—I decided to take a small daily exercise from his program instead.
This method is quite simple: you inhale and exhale deeply for 30–40 rounds, and on the final breath, you hold it in while doing push-ups.
The daily check-off criteria are completing the deep breathing for 30–40 rounds and doing the push-ups.
My 365-day winning criteria:
1 → Doing 100 push-ups per day by the end of the year.
2 → Maintaining a 90% consistency rate—meaning completing the habit for at least 329 days.
I know doing 100 push-ups is quite a lot, but if we don’t push our limitations how can reach new level of performance, right?
Productivity = 6 pomodoro per day
Last year I aimed for 365 days of doing 5 pomodoro per day, you can consult the results in the 3 x 365 challenges of 2024.
This year I am going to go for 6 pomodoro per day, and because I failed last year challenge, I thought I should have a better daily check-off criteria and 365-day winning criteria:
The daily check-off criteria is doing 6 pomodoro or more per day.
These pomodoros aren’t necessarily supposed to be 25 minutes always, if I find myself in a very tight stop when it comes to time, I might opt for 20 minutes pomodoro session and I am going to consider it a full pomodoro session.
My 365-day winning criteria:
1→ I am aiming for 90% yearly success rate, meaning I complete 6 Pomodoros per day for 329 days.
That’s all what it comes to the challenges of this year.
